S1 Curriculum


All S1 pupils receive 1 period of ICT a week which is split between Computing Science and Business. From August until December pupils focus on Computing Science where learners gain exposure to Third Level Computing Science experiences and outcomes.

The course is centred around receiving an award in Cyber Security which covers:
  • Comparisons of Computer Systems.
  • Networks
  • Cyber Security Risks
  • Protecting yourself from Cyber Security Risks
  • Legal Implications
  • Web Design

S2 Curriculum


All S2 pupils receive 1 period of Computing Science a week for half the school year. During their time in Computing Science learners gain exposure to Third Level Computing Science experiences and outcomes.

The S2 Computing Science course covers:
  • Programming
  • Games Development
  • Video editing
  • Audio editing
  • Animation
  • Interdisciplinary animation project working with Art and Modern Languages.

S3 Curriculum


All S3 pupils receive 3 periods of Computing Science a week. During their time in Computing Science learners gain exposure to Third Level Computing Science experiences and outcomes.

The aim of the S3 Computing Science course is to build on the knowledge pupils gained in S1 and S2 gaining deeper insight into topics such as:
  • Computer Systems
  • Networks
  • Media types
  • Animations
  • Web Design with HTML
  • Legal Implications
  • Security Risks and Precautions
  • Programming

We will also explore additional topics such as:
  • The environmental impact of the computing industry
  • Multimedia presentations

Sky Academy Skills Studios

Pupils involved in Computing Clubs have been invited to attend a session at Sky Studios looking at the Mobile Generation.
Here they will go behind the scenes and see the Contact Centre, learn about different job roles and the skills they require as well as developing a script and rehearsing and recording a news report using state of the art equipment.
