S1 Course
                                                
From S1-S3, all pupils will experience a broad general education where they will work across the experiences and outcomes of Curriculum for Excellence.

In term 1 pupils will be introduced to musical equipment, instrumental technique and musical notation.

THEORY
Pupils will complete 3 theory units which will develop note reading skills and be the building blocks for performing, listening and compostion areas of the course.

PERFORMING
Pupils will focus on building their skills on keyboard, guitar, bass guitar, drumkit, tuned percussion and voice.
 
LISTENING
Instruments of the Orchestra
Introduction to the orchestra and families with teacher led listening of instruments and techniques combined with written exercises/DVD/live presentations
Group presentations-research a family and create a PP presentation
HW and listening assessmentStyles and Ensembles
Listening styles, HW and assessment 

COMPOSITION
Introduction to basic composition ideas with the opportunity to compose and/or improvise short pieces of music based around blues or latin American styles.
 
  


 
S2 Course  
                                              
 
PERFORMING
Pupils will continue to build their skills on keyboard, guitar, bass guitar, drumkit, tuned percussion and voice with an aim to become proficient on two instruments. Pupils will work as part of a group to create class performances.
